This Week with David Rovics: A Note from the Ministry of Staple Guns: The City of Portland, Oregon, and Multnomah County, are doing the best job in the country at kicking the can down the road. Now is the time to push for a real solution to the housing crisis, here and across the USA.

David Rovics: Rich Peasants, Poor Peasants and "Mom-and-Pop Landlords
This Week with David Rovics: In the course of the evolving patchwork of rent strikes happening right now across the US, there is suddenly a lot of talk in the press about how much the landlords are hurting. The landlords, of course, own the press, control the federal government, run all fifty states, and have a stranglehold on most of the city councils, so this shouldn't come as a surprise.

David Rovics: Unprecedented Precedents

"It is in moments like this when the fundamental dysfunctionality of late-stage capitalism is laid bare. We live in a society where most people have inadequate health care in the best of times, and where most people are in no financial position to pay the rent next month after being laid off this month. In such a sudden economic crisis as this, even the capitalists know something has to give. This bailout package is the first big effort on the part of the federal authorities to preserve their capitalist system, by applying some classic Keynesian, FDR-style economics. Which FDR did for the same reason, as he made clear himself."

David Rovics: Anarchists For Bernie
This Week with David Rovics: Anarchists For Bernie:
"There is no Sanders wing of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party is a corrupt, captured institution, and Sanders' campaign is an insurgent campaign to take it over. A Sanders government could -- not would, but could -- be a qualitatively different sort of government, of the sort that could make a difference in whether we continue our societal march towards fascism or reverse course."
